Itinerary

Day 1 Toronto Arrival

After arriving in Toronto and checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours. Your travel documents include CN Tower voucher to use whenever you wish. Standing 553.33 metres tall, this symbol of Toronto and Canada not only offers sweeping panoramic views but also a world of entertainment. Venture back in time and travel from the mid-70s to the present where you discover the architectural secrets behind the tower. Then ride the glass-fronted elevators to the top of the world’s tallest structure (main deck). Dare to walk the glass floor, sample the exquisite cuisine at the revolving restaurant or relax in the Horizon’s Café. The views of Toronto, Lake Ontario and the distant U.S. are unforgettable. Back on earth, browse through the Marketplace and shop for authentic Canadiana and First Nations merchandise, sports memorabilia or CN Tower souvenirs.

Days 2, 3, 4 and 5 Toronto to Jasper

Today a Niagara Falls full day tour will bring you to one of Canada’s most spectacular sights. You will make your way to Niagara through the towns of Hamilton - "the steel capital of Canada", St. Catharines - "the fruit basket of Ontario", and the wine region of the Niagara Peninsula. An ample amount of time will be spent at the falls to give you every opportunity to take pictures and admire the thundering waters. Included is a thrilling boat ride on the Hornblower for a unique view of the spectacular Horseshoe Falls. Other highlights include a meal and a trip along the beautiful Niagara Parkway which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge passing through the historic community of Niagara-on-the- Lake.

Returning to Toronto, the VIA Rail Canadian train departs at 10pm, heading west across Ontario. The train will pass through Winnipeg, the gateway into Canada’s prairie country. After Manitoba and Saskatchewan you’ll glide into Alberta, home to the famed Canadian Rockies, and eventually reach Jasper at around 1pm after three cosy nights aboard the train..

Day 6 Jasper to Banff

You’ll journey south along the Icefields Parkway, hailed as one of the most scenic drives in the world. Towering, snow-packed peaks accented with tumbling streams and thick green forests frame both sides of the route. Along the way you’ll board a specially designed Ice Explorer bus and venture onto the Athabasca Glacier, one of the six “principal toes” of the Columbia Icefield.  Your tour will then continue south to Banff, one of Canada’s premier mountain resorts.

Day 7 Banff to Kamloops

You’ll continue your rail tour west aboard a Rocky Mountaineer train. From Banff you’ll ascend into the Canadian Rockies, passing through  the Spiral Tunnels, Glacier National Park and Craigellachie, the famous site where the last spike for the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. Upon crossing the Continental Divide you’ll enter British Columbia. The mountains will begin giving way to sprawling ranchlands and hilly, brown terrain before reaching Kamloops.

Day 8 Kamloops to Vancouver

The Rocky Mountaineer follows the Thompson River out of Kamloops before bending south. The scenery turns mountainous again as the train descends into the scenic Fraser River Valley.  Hells Gate, a narrow canyon only 34 meters wide, highlights this portion the trip. You’ll arrive in Vancouver in the late afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore Canada’s third largest city. A “Hop-on Hop-off” bus pass will allow you to explore Stanley Park, Gastown, Granville Island, English Bay Beach, Chinatown and the Robson Street Shopping District at your own pace.

Day 9 Vancouver

Your tour ends upon checking out of your Vancouver hotel.

This itinerary is also available in reverse on Thursdays.
