Itinerary

Day 1 Calgary and Lake Louise

After arriving in Calgary, you’ll board a motor coach and travel to Lake Louise, a perfect starting point for your Canadian vacation. You’ll lodge in the Fairmont Chateau, which overlooks Lake Louise and its famous frame of jagged, snow-topped peaks. Immediate walking access will allow you to stroll along the shores of the lake.

Day 2 Lake Louise to Banff

Your Canadian tour heads south into Yoho National Park. You could describe Yoho as stunning, staggering and stupendous and still fall 46 adjectives shy of properly describing its beauty. Takakkaw Falls, one of Canada’s highest, the Kicking Horse River’s natural bridge and Emerald Lake are just a few of the Park’s wonders. From Yoho you’ll continue on to Banff and check into your hotel.

Day 3 Banff

Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff defines mountain beauty. A 4.5 hour tour will introduce you to Banff’s magic, with visits to Bow Falls (made famous by Marilyn Monroe in River of No Return), Tunnel Mountain Drive, noted for views of Mount Rundle and Banff’s famous hoodoos. You’ll also ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain aboard the Banff Gondola, affording you stretching views of the Bow Valley.

Day 4 Banff to Kamloops

You begin the rail portion of your vacation aboard a Rocky Mountaineer train. After exiting Banff, you’ll wind through the Canadian Rockies, passing Glacier National Park, Rogers Pass and the Spiral Tunnels, one of the world’s great engineering triumphs. After crossing the Continental Divide you’ll enter British Columbia. The landscape changes dramatically, becoming almost desert-like as you approach  Kamloops, located in the center of British Columbia’s  interior.

Day 5 Kamloops to Vancouver

You’ll continue west out of Kamloops along the Thompson River before dipping south into the Fraser River Valley. The combination of the Canadian Cascade Mountains and quick flowing Fraser River create a scenic backdrop. Along the way you’ll pass Hell’s Gate, the valley’s most famous landmark. You’ll arrive in Vancouver in the late afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore Canada’s third largest city. A two-day “Hop-on, Hop-off” bus pass will allow you to tour at your own pace. The bus accesses all of Vancouver’s top attractions including Gastown, Stanley Park, Chinatown, Granville Island and the Robson Street Shopping District.

Day 6 Vancouver

Your tour ends upon checking out of your hotel. Thank you for travelling with CanadaRail.ca.

This itinerary is also available in reverse on Sundays, Mondays & Thursdays.
