Itinerary

Day 1 Toronto Arrival

After arriving in Toronto and checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours. Your travel documents include CN Tower voucher to use whenever you wish. Standing 553.33 metres tall, this symbol of Toronto and Canada not only offers sweeping panoramic views but also a world of entertainment. Venture back in time and travel from the mid-70s to the present where you discover the architectural secrets behind the tower. Then ride the glass-fronted elevators to the top of the world’s tallest structure (main deck). Dare to walk the glass floor, sample the exquisite cuisine at the revolving restaurant or relax in the Horizon’s Café. The views of Toronto, Lake Ontario and the distant U.S. are unforgettable. Back on earth, browse through the Marketplace and shop for authentic Canadiana and First Nations merchandise, sports memorabilia or CN Tower souvenirs.

Day 2 Niagara Falls Excursion

Today a Niagara Falls full day tour will bring you to one of Canada’s most spectacular sights. You will make your way to Niagara through the towns of Hamilton - "the steel capital of Canada", St. Catharines - "the fruit basket of Ontario", and the wine region of the Niagara Peninsula. An ample amount of time will be spent at the falls to give you every opportunity to take pictures and admire the thundering waters. Included is a thrilling boat ride on the Hornblower for a unique view of the spectacular Horseshoe Falls. Other highlights include a meal and a trip along the beautiful Niagara Parkway which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge passing through the historic community of Niagara-on-the- Lake. Overnight in Toronto.

Day 3, 4 and 5 VIA Rail Toronto to Jasper

Spend the day touring Toronto at your leisure. Enjoy a bus tour that combines the city's landmarks with the scenery of the waterfront. En route, you will see the CN Tower, legislative buildings, and much more. The continuous commentary on board is topical as well as historical and focuses on the heritage of the city.

Begin your Trans Canada train journey in the evening.. experience a grand assortment of landscapes as you traverse over 2500 kilometres of spectacular Canadian scenery on VIA Rails three day journey between Toronto and Jasper.  Travel through a variety of terrain: view boreal forests outline luminous lakes in the peaceful cottage country of northern Ontario; watch the sunset and take in the expansive views over the western prairies; pass through the unequivocal terrain produced by dramatic and dazzling peaks of the Canadian Rockies.  Overnight accommodation provided on the train, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 6 VIA Rail Jasper Arrival

Enjoy breakfast and lunch on the train, and arrive in the cosy resort town of Jasper, in Jasper National Park, at about 1pm in the afternoon.  Jasper is a quaint community surrounded by amazing mountain peaks, with excellent amenities and restaurants, all easily within walking distance of each other.  Hotel accommodation in Jasper is provided. You can use your tramway shuttle pass to get a higher perspective on your new home for the next two nights.

Day 7 Jasper sightseeing

Embark on a five-hour tour of one of the most spectacular areas of Jasper National Park. The first stop is at Maligne Canyon where 10,000 years of erosion have created a 49-meter deep gorge. Set off on a short walk to marvel at the Maligne River as it thunders through the canyon in a series of waterfalls. From the canyon continue to the “mysteriously” disappearing Medicine Lake and then to Maligne Lake for a 90-minute interpretative boat cruise bound for the world-renowned Spirit Island; bring your camera, as this truly is a picture postcard setting. After the boat cruise, we relax and soak up the sights or enjoy a tasty treat at the Lake Chalet. Alternatively, those who would prefer to go for a walk rather than take the cruise can enjoy a guided 75-minute walk along the shoreline trail of Maligne Lake.  Please note that the lake is usually not free of ice till the end of May, so another Jasper tour is substituted for earlier departures.

Enjoy the rest of your day in Jasper then overnight.

Day 8 Jasper to Lake Louise

Travel southeast by motorcoach down the Columbia Icefields Parkway, renowned as the most beautiful highway in Canada.  Glaciated peaks tower breathtakingly along the roadside.  The bus will stop to view Athabasca Falls.  Then, upon arrival of the Athabasca Glacier, board the Ice Explorer, a specialized bus that travels directly to the ice, while a qualified guide explains the geology of the region.  Lunch is not included, however, there will be opportunity to eat in the café.  The bus will also stop for photo opportunities at the pristine Bow Lake, prior to arriving at fabulous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise for the night.

Day 9 Lake Louise to Banff

Enjoy a free morning in Lake Louise. After lunch, enjoy a motorcoach tour of the area. Cross the Great Divide, enter Yoho National Park and visit Takakkaw Falls, Kicking Horse Pass, Emerald Lake and the Natural Rock Bridge that spans across the Kicking Horse River. Overnight in Banff.

Day 10 Banff Sightseeing

Take a guided bus tour through the towering mountains of Rundle, Tunnel, Cascade and Norquay and learn about the natural attractions of the wind-shaped hoodoos. Enjoy the view from Surprise Corner along Tunnel Mountain Drive! Experience a gentle ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain taking 8 minutes in a four-person fully enclosed gondola. A spectacular view and picture taking opportunity wait at the top of this 360 degree panorama of the Bow Valley. Learn all about how these majestic mountains have shaped this unique community.  Create your own itinerary for the remainder of the day.  You may enjoy exploring local walking trails, playing golf at The Fairmont Banff Springs, or having extra leisure time in your hotel. Overnight in Banff.

Day 11 Banff to Kamloops

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train, and admire the phenomenal snow topped Rocky Mountains looming overhead.  Observe the rivers as they change their direction of flow as the train passes over the Continental Divide.  Travel through the Spiral Tunnels and Kicking Horse canyon, over Rogers Pass, and past Craigellachie, the historic site where the final spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was placed.  Finally, view a dramatic change of scenery, as the train approaches the ranchlands of interior plateau.  The train will stop for the night in the city of Kamloops, and you will be transferred to your hotel.  Breakfast and lunch are included aboard the train.

Day 12 Kamloops to Vancouver

Depart from central British Columbia to the coastal city of Vancouver.  The environment will gradually change, as the train leaves the arid environment of the interior plateau.  The train travels through scenic river canyons carved into the Coast and Cascade Mountains, passing unique geographical attractions, such as the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate and the towering granite mountains near the city of Hope.  Enjoy passing through British Columbia’s agricultural heartland, the historic Fraser Valley; a memorable site, bordered by lush, vegetated mountainsides, with the salmon rich Fraser River winding through.  Spend the night in a downtown Vancouver hotel.  Breakfast and lunch are included aboard the train.

Day 13 Vancouver Departure

Your vacation concludes upon check-out from your Vancouver hotel.  Feel free to use your two-day “Hop-on Hop-off” bus pass to explore the city at your leisure. Extra nights available!

This itinerary is also available in reverse on Sundays & Thursdays.
