Canada is truly beautiful and a unique place. Each province has its own characteristics and trademarks which makes it remarkable and beautiful in its own way. You could also say that the Canadian Rockies are one of most beautiful places on earth. Small towns and cities like Jasper, Banff and Canmore offer some of the best experiences you could ever have.
Here at Canada Rail Vacations, we have two employees who are ex golf industry professionals. Spencer and Andrew both have studied business and have worked in the golf industry. Both have worked at some of the best courses in the Canadian Rockies and Ontario .
Canada Rail Vacations specialize in customizable tours all over Canada. Our major focus is Western Canada, highlighting cities such as Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper and Vancouver. A new aspect of travel we’d like to be involved in is customizable tours of Western Canada incorporated with golf stay and play packages. Examples would be arriving in Vancouver, taking the scenic Rocky Mountaineer train with GoldLeaf service to Banff. While visiting Banff, why not golf one of the finest and most historic golf courses Canada play has to offer. Spencer has played the Fairmont Banff Springs golf course in the past and highly recommends it. After your round of golf you’d overnight in Banff and then continue your travels to your next destination.
A few golf course recommendations that would fit into our tours would be:
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club is one of Canada’s oldest, finest and most scenic golf courses in the country. Built originally in 1924, it currently ranks 4th in “ScoreGolfs top 100 courses in Canada”. Operated by the Fairmont chain, play and stay packages come quite easy and with our specialty in customizable tours. You can take in the fantastic views and enjoy a round of golf at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club.
The Fairmont Banff Springs is one of a kind. The “Granddaddy” of Canada’s golf courses, originally built in 1928, its home resides in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park. With astonishing views and a championship level golf course, it’s truly one of Canada’s luxurious golf courses. Ranked 6th overall in“ScoreGolf magazines” top 100 courses in Canada, it’s a golf course you can’t pass on. With the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel overlooking the golf course, it’s quite convenient to play and fit in with one of our tours. 85% of the tours with Canada Rail Vacations (Not including Trans Canada Tours) have at least one night in Banff. That being said, it makes it quite easy to incorporate a round at The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course.
Greywolf Golf Course is located in Panorama, British Columbia. Greywolf has done a complete makeover in the last few years. Starting with a multi-million dollar clubhouse that opened in the fall of 2014. They’ve also purchased new carts, GPS’s and have repaved many of the cart paths to make the experience that much more enjoyable. With all the renovations and upgrades, Greywolf Golf Course sits at 23 on “ScoreGolf Magazines” top 100 golf courses in Canada. Greywolf is known it’s one of a kind par 3 “Cliffhanger” hole. Teeing up on one side of a canyon and hitting the ball onto the other side to the green is quite beautiful, challenging and truly unique. A quick video of the course can be found here Greywolf Golf Course. Detours are available with transfers from Banff to Panorama, a quick and scenic 2 hour drive from Banff is all it takes to arrive in the beautiful Panorama setting. Spencer and Andrew reside in Panorama and would love to show you around the resort and even join you for a round of golf on their home course. A few examples could be our Rockies Highlights Tour. Guests can stay in Banff for 2 nights then travel down to Panorama in the morning, enjoy an afternoon on the golf course with an overnight at the Panorama resort, with a transfer the next day to Calgary.
The last two courses we’d like to recommend would be Cabot Links and it’s new and highly talked about sister course Cabot Cliffs. Both reside in Inverness Nova Scotia. Only a 3 hour drive from Halifax. It’s a great way to end a wonderful cross country trip from Vancouver to Halifax. Cabot Links opened in the spring of 2012 and Cabot Cliffs will open for its first season June of 2016. Cabot Links was recently ranked #1 in “Scoregolf Magazines” Top 100 Golf Courses in Canada. Cabot Cliffs is expected to follow suit and be ranked in the top 10. Accommodations are available on property of the golf course as well to make it convenient for guests.
The 5 courses listed above are just a handful of the finest courses Canada has to offer. We’d love for you to enjoy Canada in your travels as well as a round of golf if you wish to do so. All tours are fully customizable in any way you chose and we’ll make it happen. If it’s just a round of golf, or you’d like to build a golf trip, we can certainly do that. If you’d like to speak with Andrew or Spencer, they’d be happy to chat about golf, the surrounding areas and to help build a golf package for you.
