For the fifth year in a row, Canada Rail Vacations will be taking part in the Pan Ohio Hope Ride, a four day bike ride from Cleveland to Cincinnati supporting the American Cancer Society. The idea for us to join this ride came to us from a client named Eddie Arsenault. After suffering a bout of cancer and surviving, Eddie donated to a cause we were supporting at the time. Looking for a means of supporting him, we typed in “American Cancer Society + bike rides” and came across the Pan Ohio Hope Ride. This was in 2014.
In 2015, we sent a team of two riders to compete in the 328 mile Pan Ohio Hope Ride. The event was so beautifully organized that we kept going back. From July 25 - 28, 2019, our company CEO Martin Flanagan will be riding his bicycle in the Pan Ohio for the fifth time. His inspiration for riding is supporting those who are suffering with cancer, giving them a better chance of survival.
For the past five years, Canada Rail Vacations has been the only Canadian team involved in the event. In 2018 we donated a Trans Canada Train trip as one of the prizes. In 2019, every guest from Ohio who books a train trip with us will have a donation made towards the Pan Ohio Hope Ride in their name.
In addition to supporting the Pan Ohio Hope Ride and the Branch Out Foundation of Calgary, Canada Rail Vacations is a primary sponsor of professional mountain bikers Jena Greaser and Dylan Bailey, competitive dirt bike racer Kristen Broderick and the Olympic bronze medal doubles luge team of Tristan Walker and Justin Snith.
