FIFA World Cup 26™ FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about travel in Canada during FIFA World Cup 26™.
As we specialize in rail travel and do not sell FIFA tickets directly, tickets for FIFA 2026 matches can be found through official FIFA resellers and trusted ticketing brokers. You can access ticket information and availability at the official link: FIFA World Cup 26™
Whistler is a fantastic nearby option, located just 90 minutes by road from Vancouver. It offers breathtaking mountain scenery, world-class dining, and plenty of recreational opportunities. Regular bus service between Vancouver and Whistler makes it easy to explore both destinations. Other nearby locations include Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, or North Vancouver.
Due to Vancouver being one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup 26™, many hotels have been fully booked, and the city is experiencing unprecedented demand. To ensure the comfort and availability of accommodations for our guests, we have temporarily removed Vancouver from certain tours operating during the tournament window.
Yes, you can absolutely add extra time in Vancouver, provided you are travelling outside the high-demand period caused by FIFA World Cup 26™ events. If you are able to secure accommodations in Vancouver before or after your tour, we’re happy to assist with transportation logistics where possible.
The official FIFA matches are being held in Vancouver and Toronto. However, many other Canadian cities will celebrate the tournament with fan zones, public viewing areas, and themed events. You can expect bars, restaurants, and even some hotels across the country to be broadcasting matches live.
At this time, we are not offering any packages that include FIFA World Cup 26™ match tickets or related events. Our focus remains on providing exceptional rail-based vacations. If you wish to incorporate a FIFA World Cup 26™ match into your travel plans, we recommend securing your ticket and accommodation independently.
Yes, you can. If you’ve secured hotel space in Vancouver independently, you’re welcome to fly into or out of the city. We simply ask that you do not schedule a flight on the same day as your train travel, as delays or disruptions may occur.
Yes, all standard transportation services, including air, bus, and car rentals, will remain operational. That said, traffic in and around Vancouver may be heavier than usual during FIFA World Cup 26™ events, so we suggest allowing extra time when travelling.
This is a temporary adjustment affecting specific departure dates during the FIFA World Cup 26™. Once the tournament concludes, we will resume our regular itineraries that include Vancouver as a featured destination.
Yes. The impact of FIFA World Cup 26™ is being felt in many parts of Canada, especially in terms of hotel pricing and availability. In major hubs like Vancouver and Toronto, prices may be three to four times higher than usual, and accommodations can sell out far in advance.
Absolutely. We recommend Whistler for a stunning mountain resort experience just north of Vancouver, or Victoria on Vancouver Island for a coastal escape rich in history, gardens, and culture. Both offer unique West Coast experiences and can be paired with our rail tours.
As availability and pricing are highly variable during FIFA World Cup 26™, we recommend checking directly with hotels or online booking platforms. Due to increased demand, expect higher rates, particularly on match days. Any additions to your trip would need to be arranged independently during this time.
While we are not offering Vancouver add-ons through our Special Edition Tours, we can assist with general advice. One popular option is to stay in Whistler and take a scheduled bus into Vancouver, which allows you to visit the city without needing to secure accommodation there.
Yes, there will be increased security and a strong police presence throughout the city. As with any large international event, we recommend staying aware of your surroundings, avoiding overly congested areas if possible, and planning for transportation and accommodations.
Vancouver will be busy during FIFA World Cup 26™, particularly in areas around stadiums, downtown, and public event zones. If you enjoy lively atmospheres and international celebrations, this could be a very memorable time to visit. However, if you prefer quieter experiences, it may be best to avoid Vancouver during match dates.
Yes, Toronto is the only other Canadian city hosting matches for FIFA World Cup 26™. Both cities will have significant activity, including fan zones, viewing areas, and related events.
Rocky Mountaineer has published adjusted schedules and routes to minimize travel into Vancouver during FIFA World Cup 26™. VIA Rail continues to operate its regular service, although stations and transportation hubs may experience higher traffic volumes than usual.
Certainly. In place of Vancouver, we recommend visiting Whistler or Victoria. Whistler offers scenic alpine beauty and outdoor adventure, while Victoria is known for its coastal charm, gardens, and British heritage. Both destinations provide an excellent West Coast experience without the crowds and hotel challenges of Vancouver during FIFA World Cup 26™.
