Itinerary

Day 1 Toronto Arrival

After arriving in Toronto and checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours. Your travel documents include CN Tower voucher to use whenever you wish. Standing 553.33 metres tall, this symbol of Toronto and Canada not only offers sweeping panoramic views but also a world of entertainment. Venture back in time and travel from the mid-70s to the present where you discover the architectural secrets behind the tower. Then ride the glass-fronted elevators to the top of the world’s tallest structure (main deck). Dare to walk the glass floor, sample the exquisite cuisine at the revolving restaurant or relax in the Horizon’s Café. The views of Toronto, Lake Ontario and the distant U.S. are unforgettable. Back on earth, browse through the Marketplace and shop for authentic Canadiana and First Nations merchandise, sports memorabilia or CN Tower souvenirs.

Day 2 Niagara Falls Excursion

Today a Niagara Falls full day tour will bring you to one of Canada’s most spectacular sights. You will make your way to Niagara through the towns of Hamilton - "the steel capital of Canada", St. Catharines - "the fruit basket of Ontario", and the wine region of the Niagara Peninsula. An ample amount of time will be spent at the falls to give you every opportunity to take pictures and admire the thundering waters. Included is a thrilling boat ride on the Hornblower for a unique view of the spectacular Horseshoe Falls. Other highlights include a meal and a trip along the beautiful Niagara Parkway which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge passing through the historic community of Niagara-on-the- Lake. Overnight in Toronto.

Day 3, 4 and 5 VIA Rail Toronto to Jasper

Spend the morning exploring Toronton on your own. Begin your Trans Canada train journey in the afternoon. Experience a grand assortment of landscapes as you traverse over 2500 kilometres of spectacular Canadian scenery on VIA Rail's three night journey between Toronto and Jasper.  Travel through a variety of terrain: view boreal forests outline luminous lakes in the peaceful cottage country of northern Ontario; watch the sunset and take in the expansive views over the western prairies; pass through the unequivocal terrain produced by dramatic and dazzling peaks of the Canadian Rockies.  Overnight accommodation provided on the train, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 6 VIA Rail Jasper Arrival

Enjoy breakfast and lunch on the train, and arrive in the cosy resort town of Jasper, in Jasper National Park, in the late afternoon.  Jasper is a quaint community surrounded by amazing mountain peaks, with excellent amenities and restaurants, all easily within walking distance of each other.  Hotel accommodation in Jasper is provided.

Day 7 Jasper to Lake Louise

Travel southeast by motorcoach down the Columbia Icefields Parkway, renowned as the most beautiful highway in Canada.  Glaciated peaks tower breathtakingly along the roadside.  The bus will stop to view Athabasca Falls.  Then, upon arrival of the Athabasca Glacier, board the Ice Explorer, a specialized bus that travels directly to the ice, while a qualified guide explains the geology of the region.  Lunch is included. The bus will also stop for photo opportunities at the pristine Bow Lake, prior to arriving at fabulous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise for the night.

Day 8 Lake Louise to Banff

Enjoy a free morning in Lake Louise. Enjoy a bus tour of the area. You'll visit Moraine Lake, cross the Great Divide, enter Yoho National Park and visit Takakkaw Falls, Kicking Horse Pass, Emerald Lake and the Natural Rock Bridge that spans across the Kicking Horse River. Overnight in Banff.

Day 9 Banff Sightseeing

Take a guided bus tour through the towering mountains of Rundle, Tunnel, Cascade and Norquay and learn about the natural attractions of the wind-shaped hoodoos. Enjoy the view from Surprise Corner along Tunnel Mountain Drive! Experience a gentle ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain taking 8 minutes in a four-person fully enclosed gondola. A spectacular view and picture taking opportunity wait at the top of this 360 degree panorama of the Bow Valley. Learn all about how these majestic mountains have shaped this unique community.  Create your own itinerary for the remainder of the day.  You may enjoy exploring local walking trails, playing golf at The Fairmont Banff Springs, or having extra leisure time in your hotel. Overnight in Banff.

Day 10 Banff to Kamloops

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train, and admire the phenomenal snow topped Rocky Mountains looming overhead.  Observe the rivers as they change their direction of flow as the train passes over the Continental Divide.  Travel through the Spiral Tunnels and Kicking Horse canyon, over Rogers Pass, and past Craigellachie, the historic site where the final spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was placed.  Finally, view a dramatic change of scenery, as the train approaches the ranchlands of interior plateau.  The train will stop for the night in the city of Kamloops, and you will be transferred to your hotel.  Breakfast and lunch are included aboard the train.

Day 11 Kamloops to Vancouver

Depart from central British Columbia to the coastal city of Vancouver.  The environment will gradually change, as the train leaves the arid environment of the interior plateau.  The train travels through scenic river canyons carved into the Coast and Cascade Mountains, passing unique geographical attractions, such as the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate and the towering granite mountains near the city of Hope.  Enjoy passing through British Columbia’s agricultural heartland, the historic Fraser Valley; a memorable site, bordered by lush, vegetated mountainsides, with the salmon rich Fraser River winding through.  Spend the night in a downtown Vancouver hotel.  Breakfast and lunch are included aboard the train.

Day 12 Vancouver Departure

Your vacation concludes upon check-out from your Vancouver hotel.  Feel free to use your “Hop-on Hop-off” bus pass to explore the city at your leisure. Extra nights available!

This itinerary is also available in reverse on Sundays & Thursdays.
