Details of the train tour package that Canada Rail Vacations is donating are as follows. This package can be customized to your specific date of travel in 2018 or 2019 and is for two people travelling together in double occupancy. Dates are based upon non-peak travel times but can be customized to fit your desires.
Upon your arrival in Vancouver, independently enjoy the day exploring any of Vancouver’s excellent attractions: such as Stanley Park, or the Vancouver Art Gallery. Enjoy strolling along the downtown beaches which overlook the harbour and Coast Mountains, or take the opportunity to do some unique shopping on Granville Island. Accommodation in Vancouver is included with your tour package. We have included a two day hop on hop off bus tour pass to explore the city.
Use your sightseeing bus pass to explore Vancouver at your leisure. Travel through Vancouver’s past, present and future as you visit historic Gastown, colourful Chinatown and the lively entertainment district. Discover the beauty of 1000-acre Stanley Park and English Bay as well as the bustle of Robson Street in the heart of the shopping district. Continue to the prestigious Olde Shaughnessy residential mansions area and Granville Island.
At 8:30pm, depart Vancouver onboard the 'The Canadian' for an epic overnight rail journey across five Canadian provinces. Night falls as you travel through the lush Fraser Valley, British Columbia’s agricultural heartland, and along the meandering salmon-rich Fraser River. Snuggle in for the night in your private-bedroom accommodation with the soothing rhythmic sounds of the train rocking you to sleep.
Enjoy a range of chef prepared options for breakfast and lunch as the train approaches the majestic Rocky Mountains, passing 8000ft south-face of Mt. Robson (12,790ft) on your way to an 4:00pm arrival in Jasper. After check-in at your Jasper hotel, venture out to see the Jasper area on your own.
This is your holiday and we don't want you to feel rushed. This is your day to do whatever you wish in the Jasper area. You may wish to go for a walk, rent a bike, take a tour, rent a car or go canoeing. Jasper is an idyllic town located within Jasper National Park.
An evening train departure will allow time for you to ride the Jasper SkyTram to the top of Whistler's Mountain. We've included admission for you to use pass if you choose to travel between May and October. Once aboard The Canadian, Canada’s geographical diversity will then come into full view as you travel east aboard VIA Rail’s Canadian train. From Jasper you’ll journey through Edmonton that evening while sleeping aboard the train and enjoying a four course dinner in the trains beautifully restored 1950s art-deco dining car.
You'll wake up the next morning in the province of Saskatchewan and travel on to Manitoba, home to Canada’s vast prairies and grasslands. Your train then continues into Ontario and travels just north of the Great Lakes, passing through scenic towns and villages hemmed by thick forests. You’ll arrive in Toronto on Day 8. Overnight in your Toronto hotel.
We've included a Toronto hop on hop off bus pass to explore the city. We've also included a complimentary CN Tower pass to use as time permits. Enjoy a bus tour that combines the city's landmarks with the scenery of the waterfront. You will see the CN Tower, legislative buildings, and much more. The continuous commentary en route is topical as well as historical and focuses on the heritage of the city.
