Two Nights in Calgarywith Touring or The Calgary Stampede*

This add-on can be included on any Canada Rail Vacations tour package starting or ending in Banff/Calgary.

Complete your full Alberta experience with an extended stay in Calgary. Every July for 10 days, Calgary hosts the Calgary Stampede, otherwise known as “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”. If you are planning to travel on one of our Canada rail vacation packages while the Stampede is running, we highly recommend that you include this add-on in your plans and one of our Vacation Planners will customize the Add-On to fit your schedule.

During months when the Calgary Stampede is not running, you may wish to use this add-on as a relaxing way to begin or end your Canada rail vacation, or as a gateway to exploring other nearby locations such as Kananaskis and Drumheller.

The highlights of this Add-On include touring the City of Calgary during most of the year, or General Admission, Rodeo Tickets, and Grandstand Tickets during The Calgary Stampede.

Calgary & The Calgary Stampede

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth

Experience The Calgary Stampede

The Calgary Stampede will be operating from July 4 to 13, 2025!

During this time, General Admission, Rodeo Tickets, and the Grandstand Show will be the highlights of this add-on! Gain access to the free music stages, midway, food stalls, agriculture competitions, dog shows, and the other eclectic, western-themed events that the Stampede has to offer. From Bucking Broncos to Barrel Races, the Stampede Rodeo has every thrilling event that a cowboy or cowgirl can ask for. The Rodeo starts daily at 1:30 PM and runs for three hours.

The Evening Grandstand Show starts with several rounds of chuckwagon and bareback races and finishes off with elaborate dance numbers, acrobatics, and fireworks. This dazzling finale is the best possible way to close off your day at the Stampede. The evening show starts at 7:45 PM daily and runs for three hours.

For both events, our Vacation Planners will book your tickets for you at a time that fits your travel schedule, making sure that you get the best seats available to enjoy the show.

Calgary City Tour & The Calgary Tower

*When the Calgary Stampede is not running:

Calgary, situated in the picturesque province of Alberta, Canada, is a dynamic and culturally rich city with a diverse economic landscape. Nestled between the prairies to the east and the majestic Canadian Rockies to the west, Calgary is divided by the Bow River, offering a stunning natural backdrop. Historically associated with the oil and gas industry, the city has evolved into a hub for various sectors, including finance, technology, and tourism.

Explore Calgary on a 3-hour bus tour and see the highlights of the city. On this tour, you’ll learn about Calgary’s roots, observe historical landmarks, and have various photo opportunities. Beginning and ending from the Calgary Tower, take a ride to the top for panoramic views of the city and mountains.

Explore Calgary & It's Surroundings

*When the Calgary Stampede is not running:

You’re likely to have some free time built into your travel plans by including this add-on. You may choose to relax in Calgary and recover from a long flight, or prepare for your upcoming departure after your adventures in the Canadian Rockies. During these times, there are two things that Calgary is known for that may fit nicely into your relaxation plans; beef, and beers! Alberta beef is known as some of the finest in the world, and Calgary is home to more than 40+ craft breweries.

Should you wish to explore new locations during your time in Calgary, we highly recommend a private tour experience to one of the following locations:

Located between Calgary and Banff, Kananaskis is considered a hidden gem for Albertans and not known to international tourists. Instead of having a direct transfer between Calgary and Banff, upgrading to this tour makes for a great day spent exploring parts of the Canadian Rockies that few other tourists get to see.

Located 90 minutes east of Calgary is the town of Drumheller, also known as “The Dinosaur Capital of the World”.  On a full-day tour, explore the Canadian Badlands and nearby Dinosaur Provincial Park.
