Daily Itinerary

September 10 - Vancouver Arrival

Arrive in Vancouver, Canada, known for its cultural and linguistic diversity. This city is very lively and home to a bustling arts scene. You will find that there is no shortage of things to do and places to explore. Your private driver will be waiting for you to take you to the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, where you’ll spend the next two nights.

September 11 - Meetings and a city tour

We’ve got a board room for all of your needs today. Spend the morning in meetings, catered with an exclusive lunch. In the afternoon enjoy a three hour city tour to get to know Vancouver better. Dinner will be included in one of the city’s finest restaurants.

September 12 - Rocky Mountaineer Train from Vancouver to Kamloops

Climb aboard the Rocky Mountaineer and raise your glass as the train heads northeast out of Vancouver. Your journey across Canada has officially begun! Travel alongside the mighty waters of the salmon-rich Fraser River and pass the powerful rapids of Hell’s Gate.

Towards the end of today you’ll approach the drier grasslands of Kamloops, where you will be spending the night in your hotel. Dinner vouchers at a nearby restaurant are included for those who are still hungry after a day of riding the rails.

September 13 - Rocky Mountaineer Train from Kamloops to Banff

As you travel east towards the province of Alberta, you are greeted by the Canadian Rockies. Rocky lakeshores, snow-capped mountain peaks and crisp glacial streams accompany you as you dine on locally-sourced, gourmet meals.

Learn about points of interest such as astoundingly high Kicking Horse Canyon and the Spiral Tunnels. End off today in the friendly mountain resort town of Banff where you will spend the next three nights at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, one of the finest in Canada.

September 14 - Banff Sightseeing Tour including Gondola

Today you’ll be on a 4.5-hour guided tour through the towering Rundle, Tunnel, Cascade and Norquay Mountains. Learn about the wind-shaped hoodoos and experience Surprise Corner along Tunnel Mountain Drive. Take a gentle gondola ride up to the top of Sulphur Mountain for fantastic views, interpretive boardwalks and photo opportunities. Lunch is included atop the Banff Gondola, which offers one of the best views to enjoy a meal in Canada.

The rest of the afternoon in Banff is yours to spend shopping, walking some local trails, canoeing, cycling, mountain biking, playing golf or relaxing as you choose.

September 15 - Lake Louise Tour and Activities

This morning we will take a guided tour to Lake Louise. Some of the optional included activities at Lake Louise are: canoeing on the pristine lake; a guided horseback ride up the mountain for some iconic views; a guided hike along the lakeshore or ride the Lake Louise Gondola in search of wildlife.

After a lunch in the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, we will continue with our guided tour to Moraine Lake and back to Banff, arriving mid-afternoon, with plenty of time to explore the town.

September 16 - Banff to Calgary Scenic Transfer

We’ll have four shuttle times running throughout the day to bring you back to Calgary Airport in time to catch your flight home. Enjoy the 1.5 hour scenic transfer to Calgary. We’d like to thank you for travelling with Canada Rail Vacations.
