Maligne Valley & Pleckaitis Canyon Icewalk Tour Description
This guided tour takes you deep into the heart of the Maligne Valley, with scenic stops at breathtaking viewpoints like Medicine Lake. As you journey through areas of the park recently impacted by wildfires, your guide will share fascinating insights into the ecology of fire, the rebirth of the landscape, and its role in shaping the natural environment.
The highlight of the tour is the opportunity to walk on ice at the bottom of one of Jasper’s deepest accessible canyons, located in an untouched and unimpacted part of the park. Surrounded by towering rock walls, the hidden Pleckaitis Canyon offers a serene and otherworldly setting. As you navigate this winding canyon, you’ll uncover the mysteries of its geology and learn about the rich history and ecology of the area. This adventure is perfect for visitors and locals alike and includes all necessary equipment to keep you safe on the ice.
