Jasper Maligne Valley Tour Description
The Jasper Nature tour is an amazing interpretive sightseeing drive up the Maligne Valley. Our exploration will include a stop at Maligne Canyon for a gentle guided walk to the first two bridges above the gorge, a short stop at the “disappearing” Medicine Lake, and finally Maligne Lake. The Maligne Valley Tour is mainly a nature, scenic, and geological voyage but it is also an excellent opportunity to see some of Jasper’s wildlife. Part two of this tour is based on seasonal conditions:
Before June 1st or after October 13*: At Maligne Lake, you will enjoy a guided hike along the Mary Schaffer Loop (3.2 km / 2 miles – weather and trail conditions permitting).
After June 1st or before October 13*: At Maligne Lake, you will take part in a 1.5-hour cruise. Glide past the jagged mountain peaks as you cruise to Spirit Island, a world-famous destination only accessible by boat. Visitors can explore the lake from the comfort of glass-enclosed and heated cruise boats while a knowledgeable guide provides commentary about Maligne Lake’s history and explains its geology, wildlife, weather, flora, and fauna.
This tour uses a mid-sized motorcoach which can hold up to 30 people.
This tour is approximately 6 hours long.
*Exact dates for the cruise are dependent on the early-season ice melt and late-season changes in weather. Due to this uncertainty, our early and late-season prices do not include the cruise, however, we will include it complimentary for our Canada Rail guests if the cruise dates are available earlier than expected in late May.
Joining Instructions:
Please be ready and out front of your hotel in the bus pick-up area 5 minutes before the listed pick-up time. Please be patient if the bus does not arrive on time as the exact pick-up times can vary slightly from day to day. Look out for a mid-sized bus with the SunDog logo or a driver with a green vest and be sure that you do not get on a different bus as many different companies will be doing their pick-ups at similar times.
Please have the Jonview Voucher provided in your Travel Documents readily available on hand or on your mobile device to present to the driver. *Those with the SUN Voucher Code noted will not need to provide a voucher.
Please do not bring your luggage with you as you will return to your Jasper hotel once the tour has been completed.
