About Kamloops, British Columbia

Situated at the junction of the North and South Thompson Rivers in the Thompson Valley, Kamloops is the second-largest city in the BC Interior. Kamloops is known as Canada’s Tournament Capital as it is a major host centre for amateur sports tournaments due to the many hotels here, as well as the desert-like climate which is a mix of rolling grasslands, slot canyons and hoodoos.

Arrival Information:

For most of our guests coming into Kamloops on the Rocky Mountaineer, you will be transferred by bus to your hotel directly from the train station. You will then be transferred back to the train the next morning.

For those coming into Kamloops on the VIA Rail Canadian train, please take a taxi from the Kamloops North station to your hotel.

Departure Information:

For most of our guests departing Kamloops on the Rocky Mountaineer, you will be transferred by bus from your hotel to the train.

For those departing Kamloops on the VIA Rail Canadian train, please take a taxi from your hotel to the Kamloops North station.

The Noble Pig – Great Local Brewhouse & Bistro. British Columbia is earning a reputation for it’s craft beers and this would be the place to sample some. Also has a very good menu. Casual Attire.

Underbelly – by the Pig – The Other Side of the Pig. Modern casual restaurant in the heart of downtown Kamloops. Intimate, quiet space with an elevated dinner menu featuring quaint and cozy dining. Casual Attire.

Sightseeing Recommendations:

Your stay in Kamloops is short so go get a picture with the Mounted Patrol, Picnic in the park, visit downtown and stroll Victoria, Seymour and Lansdowne Streets.
Enjoy some live music in the park downtown daily during peak summer months (July& August) where local bands play. There is also a beach along the river nearby the preferred hotels.
