Daily Itinerary

Day 1 - Vancouver Arrival

Upon your arrival in Vancouver, independently enjoy the day exploring any of Vancouver’s excellent attractions: such as Stanley Park, or the Vancouver Art Gallery. Enjoy strolling along the downtown beaches which overlook the harbour and Coast Mountains, or take the opportunity to do some unique shopping on Granville Island.

Day 2 - Rocky Mountaineer Train to Whistler & Golf in Whistler

A motorcoach will transfer you from your downtown hotel to North Vancouver for your departure on the Whistler Mountaineer train. Your train travels up the picturesque “Sea to Sky” corridor, snuggling against the Coast Mountains on the right, with the sparkling waters of the Howe Sound on your left. Fabulous scenic points of interest include the prominent granite monolith known as “The Chief,” the spectacular Shannon Falls, and Mount Garibaldi, looming in the background. Unlike motor vehicles, the train can enter the amazing Cheakamus Canyon. A light meal is served on the train.
Upon your arrival in Whistler, you will be transferred to your hotel and then off to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course for a scenic round of golf. Wildlife, scenery and incredible vistas are signature of The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course.
Carved out of the slopes of the Coast Mountain range in British Columbia, this magnificent Whistler golf course allows nature to dictate the path without constraints of commercial influence.
The mountain course traverses creeks, ponds, stands of ancient Douglas fir and granite rock. Elevation changes of more than 400 feet overall create an impressive golf opportunity and a naturally spectacular BC golf experience.

Day 3 - Rocky Mountaineer train to Quesnel

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train and view the lush Coast Mountains passing by. Enjoy the spectacular Mount Currie looming over the fertile Pemberton Valley. Train passengers can almost touch the crystal clear waters of Anderson and Seton Lakes, as the train meanders past. Watch for the ginseng plantations on the dry hilltops above Lillooet. The crossing of Deep Creek Bridge is also a spectacular event, as it is one of the highest railway bridges in the world. The scenery truly enchanting as the train passes through this sparsely populated, remote region, winding through ranchlands and deep river canyons of the Cariboo Plateau. Breakfast and lunch is included. Overnight in the historic, rural town of Quesnel, quaintly situated on the banks of the Fraser River.

Day 4 - Rocky Mountaineer Train Quesnel to Jasper

Your train travels largely along the Fraser River, an astonishing journey for the salmon that swim upstream to spawn in it, over 1600 kilometres from where it joins the ocean in Vancouver. Watch for moose and other wildlife as you journey densely forested rolling hills to the city of Prince George, known as the northern capital. It is little wonder this area is renowned for its hunting and fishing! Enjoy travelling along the Rocky Mountain Trench, through the stunning Robson Valley, a wide agricultural valley, nestled between Cariboo and Rocky Mountains. Along route, view the dramatic Mount Terry Fox, named after the legendary young cancer fundraiser who attempted to run across Canada with his prosthetic leg before losing his battle with the disease. View the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), the picturesque Pyramid Falls, and the stunning Moose Lake, before arriving and staying the night in the cosy resort town of Jasper, in Jasper National Park. Breakfast and lunch are included aboard the train.

Day 5 - Golf at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Designed by Stanley Thompson, arguably the greatest golf course architect in Canadian golf history, Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course, located in Jasper National Park, is a classic in every sense. Thompson was the master of the par 3, exemplified by the 9th hole called “Cleopatra” because of the suggestive shape of its contours. Jasper has been rated the second best Course in Canada by Score Magazine and is one of only nine courses in the world to receive the gold medal by Golf Magazine. With its stunning setting and unparalleled bunkering, Jasper is a “must play” course.

Day 6 - Icefields Parkway tour including Ice Explorer

Aboard a motorcoach, travel southeast down the Icefields Parkway, renowned as the most beautiful highway in Canada. Glaciated peaks tower breathtakingly along the roadside. The bus will stop to view Athabasca Falls. Then, upon arrival of the Athabasca Glacier, board the Ice Explorer, a specialized bus that travels directly to the ice, while a qualified guide explains the geology of the region. Lunch is not included, however, there will be opportunity to eat in the café. The bus will also stop for photo opportunities at the pristine Bow Lake, and Lake Louise before arriving to the town of Banff.

Day 7 - Golf at Fairmont Banff Springs

Renowned for its panoramic beauty and history, The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course is situated in Banff National Park, a mile high in the Canadian Rockies. Designed by world-renowned golf architect Stanley Thompson in 1928, the original 18-hole course was later complemented by the construction of an adjoining 9 holes, designed by Cornish and Robinson and opened in 1989; thereby completing this championship layout. Shuttle service is provided by the Banff Springs Hotel.

Day 8 - Banff to Canmore & Golf in Canmore

Your private driver will accompany you from Banff to Canmore. This short drive will give you the opportunity to tee off no later than noon. Tee times are available at Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club and Silvertip Golf Course. Your driver-guide will be available post round for your return to Banff. Your driver’s also available for a later pick up should you wish to have a post round beverage or dinner at the clubhouse.

Day 9 - Scenic Tour Banff to Calgary

Enjoy a two-hour scenic transfer to Calgary, Alberta’s liveliest city. Famous for its yearly stampede, this is a city that prides itself on its western charm. We’d like to thank you for travelling with Canada Rail Vacations and look forward to hosting you again in the future.
