Daily Itinerary

Day 1 - Vancouver Arrival

Upon arrival in Vancouver, spend the day exploring the city at your own pace. Visit popular attractions such as Stanley Park or the Vancouver Art Gallery, or stroll along the downtown beaches with views of the harbour and Coast Mountains. For some unique shopping, head to Granville Island.

Spend the night in your Vancouver hotel room.

Day 2 - Rocky Mountaineer Train to Kamloops

After breakfast, transfer to the Rocky Mountaineer station to begin your journey east. Travel through the lush farmland of the Fraser Valley before the landscape turns dramatic as the train follows the Fraser River into its rugged canyon, passing the churning waters of Hells Gate. As you continue along the Thompson River, the scenery changes again to the semi-arid desert country of the BC interior. Breakfast and lunch are served onboard. Upon arrival in Kamloops, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Spend the night in your Kamloops hotel room.

Day 3 - Rocky Mountaineer train to Jasper

Board the Rocky Mountaineer for your final day onboard as the train follows the North Thompson River north through forested valleys and quiet ranchlands. Keep watch for Pyramid Falls cascading down the mountainside right beside the tracks. As you approach the Rockies, the train passes Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, before crossing the Continental Divide at Yellowhead Pass. Breakfast and lunch are served onboard. In the evening, arrive in the mountain town of Jasper, nestled in the heart of Jasper National Park.

Spend the night in your Jasper hotel room.

Day 4 - Golf at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course, set within Jasper National Park, is a classic in every sense. It was designed by Stanley Thompson, arguably the greatest golf course architect in Canadian history and a true master of the par 3. The 9th hole is a perfect example, nicknamed “Cleopatra” for the suggestive shape of its contours. Score Magazine has rated Jasper the second best course in Canada, and it is one of only nine courses in the world to receive a gold medal from Golf Magazine. With its stunning setting and unparalleled bunkering, Jasper is a must-play.

Spend the night in your Jasper hotel room.

Day 5 - Icefields Parkway Tour including Ice Explorer

Board a motorcoach and travel southeast along the Icefields Parkway, renowned as the most beautiful highway in Canada, where glaciated peaks tower over the roadside. Your first stop is the thundering Athabasca Falls. At the Athabasca Glacier, step aboard the Ice Explorer, a specialized vehicle that drives directly onto the ice while a qualified guide explains the geology of the region. Lunch is not included, but there will be time to eat at the café. Continuing south, the coach stops for photos at pristine Bow Lake and Lake Louise before arriving in the town of Banff.

Spend the night in your Banff hotel room.

Day 6 - Golf at Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course

Renowned for its panoramic beauty and history, the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course sits a mile high in the Canadian Rockies within Banff National Park. The original 18 holes were designed in 1928 by world-renowned golf architect Stanley Thompson. In 1989, an adjoining 9 holes designed by Cornish and Robinson opened, completing this championship layout. Shuttle service to the course is provided by the Banff Springs Hotel.

Spend the night in your Banff hotel room.

Day 7 - Golf at Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club

Your driver will accompany you from Banff to Canmore for your round at Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club. The short drive gives you plenty of time to tee off no later than noon. Your driver-guide will be available after your round for the return to Banff. A later pick up can also be arranged should you wish to enjoy a post-round beverage or dinner at the clubhouse.

Spend the night in your Banff hotel room.

Day 8 - Scenic Transfer from Banff to Calgary

Enjoy a two-hour scenic transfer to Calgary, Alberta’s liveliest city. Famous for its yearly stampede, this is a city that prides itself on its western charm. We’d like to thank you for travelling with Canada Rail Vacations and look forward to hosting you again in the future.
